Where can I buy products made with Wisconsin Cranberries?

Wisconsin Cranberries are used as an ingredient in many juices, sauces and foods that use sweetened dried cranberries like granola, cereals and more. Although many processed foods in your grocery store will not specifically say where the cranberries come from, you can be sure you’re buying Wisconsin Cranberries if you see the “Made With Wisconsin Cranberries” label or if you buy direct from a Wisconsin grower or handler.

Why can’t I find fresh cranberries year round?

Fresh cranberries are harvested in the fall and are usually only available at your local grocery store from October through December. Fortunately, cranberries can be frozen for up to a year, so remember to stock up with an extra bag or two around the holidays to use throughout the year. Additionally, some grocery stores now carry frozen cranberries year-round, so check your local supermarket’s freezer section as well.

What’s the best way to store cranberries?

Fresh cranberries should be stored in the refrigerator in their original plastic bag for up to a month. Cranberries also freeze well for up to a year. For storing other packaged cranberry products including juices, dried cranberries or cranberry sauce, please check the label or contact the manufacturer.

Can I freeze fresh cranberries?

Yes! Fresh cranberries freeze well for up to a year. When cooking with frozen cranberries, do not thaw before using.

Can I substitute sweetened dried cranberries in recipes that call for fresh cranberries?

Yes, sweetened dried cranberries work well in baked goods; however there is a ¼ cup difference in measurement. If a recipe calls for one cup of fresh or frozen cranberries, use ¾ cup of sweetened dried cranberries. Sweetened dried cranberries should not be used in cooked sauces.

Where else are cranberries grown?

Cranberries are also grown in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, Oregon, in several areas of Canada and Chile.
